New phishing scam targets Outlook accounts

According to an article by Caleb Johnson (switched.com), who cites information from TrendLabs Malware blog, a new phishing e-mail is circulating amongst Microsoft Outlook users. The e-mail leads recipients to a phishing website, under the guise that their e-mail accounts require reconfiguration.  Johnson cautions that in clicking this link, users not only surrender their password but also their mail server information, which "gives phishers complete access to a user's e-mail account, which facilitates the theft of important personal information (credit card numbers, social security number, bank account numbers, etc.)."

Always use caution when opening e-mails.  Follow Johnson's advice and "avoid clicking suspicious or unfamiliar links."  Even if you know the sender, if the e-mail content or subject seems suspicious, verify that the e-mail was intentionally sent - it's always better to err on the side of caution.
