I briefly watched Regis and Kelly this morning and I think what I saw connects well with yesterday's blog. Anderson Cooper was co-hosting and he brought up the topic of social networking. According to Cooper, usage of social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, increased over 80% in the last year - a growth so sizable that it almost seems unreal.However, any doubts as to whether this statistic reflects reality were squelched by what Cooper did mere minutes after he mentioned it: he twittered via his Blackberry. (I checked and this is what Cooper wrote: "From anderson: I'm on regis and kelly right now, filling in for regis. Kelly says hello!").
In light of the ever-increasing popularity of Twitter (interestingly Facebook has seen a decline in recent months - see May 27 blog entry), I have to wonder what the effect, if any, will be on business networking sites, such as LinkedIn.
