Using personal e-mail...while at work

Some employers restrict, or blatantly prohibit the use of personal e-mail in the workplace. Is this a detriment to an employee obtaining a healthy work/life balance? Some people feel that blocking access to websites at work could backfire. This could reduce job satisfaction and productivity while others feel the opposite, that work computers should be used strictly for work purposes in order to increase productivity. Although many feel that a personal e-mail here and there is not a bad thing, e-mail has a way of taking on a life its own. Therefore, it is important to know your employers policy on personal e-mails, and if personal e-mails are allowed be sure to limit them to a reasonable amount of time.
