The summer months are upon us, and more of us will be outside enjoying the nice weather and sunshine. However, too much sun can be a bad thing when it results in a sunburn. Sun exposure causes up to 90% of premature aging, and skin diseases as well as various types of cancer.

Some of the best ways to avoid a sunburn start with applying sunscreen 30 minutes before going out in the sun, and reapplying it every 1-2 hours. Another step is to wear protective clothing such as a wide brimmed hat, long skirts or pants to cover legs, and shirts with sleeves when you are going to be in the sun for long periods of time. Also, limit time in the between the hours of 10am and 3 pm when the sun is its strongest.
